Hair Transplant FAQs - Albany, Latham & Capital Region NY

Please reach us at newhairnewyork@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You may be a good candidate for a hair transplant depending on your hair loss, donor hair availability and your expectations.

Yes it does. I am a patient myself and my transplanted hair after 30 plus years is still going strong.

In this tough economy where it seems that the cost of everything  has gone up,  we at Pawlinga Medical have tried to make all surgical and non- surgical procedures affordable for you. We believe we have found the sweet spot and we also believe that you will be very happy with our pricing.  Come in for a free consult and we will fully discuss your options and  your price.

When you are told that you need 2,500 GRAFTS,  that means we will harvest 2,500 NATURAL groupings of GRAFTS from the back and sides of your head.. Hair grows in groupings of either a 1 hair GRAFT, a 2 hair GRAFT,  a 3 hair GRAFT or even some  4 - 5 hair GRAFTS. .

The most common natural hair graft averages about 2.5 hairs but that does depends on your individual density. So if you are told you need 2,500 GRAFTS and your GRAFTS average 2.5  hairs per graft,  then that means you should get approximately 6,250 hairs per procedure.

2,500 GRAFTS x 2.5  Hairs per GRAFT = 6,250 hairs.

The hair GRAFTS are harvested from  your " safe donor zone." Thank of an area from ear to ear in a rectangular horseshoe pattern and that's the idea.

Hair GRAFTS are harvested either by the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method or the Follicular Unit Transplantation  (FUT) method. I have had a few transplants myself and have experienced both methods. Regardless of the method, you still would get the same amount of hair grafts.

There is some discomfort. I have had my wisdom teeth removed before and I think that the discomfort

I experienced with a hair transplant is more or less like the discomfort I had with wisdom tooth surgery.  We give you some relaxing medication and play some relaxing music. Most patients  snore on and off throughout the procedure.

Number 1 is "that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be" and number 2 "I don't know why I waited so long."

Number 1, "Don't  hit your head getting in the car when you leave the office today" and number 2,

" Always call the office anytime with any questions."

You have to be very aware of your surroundings when you leave the office and when you get home and try not to bang your head into anything. Also, always call the office anytime with any questions hair-related.

We are in the business of making people happy with our hair restoration procedure. If for some reason the hair we transplanted does not grow as well as expected and assuming post- operative instructions were followed, then we would take care of that. This scenario remotely happens and most people are so happy  to have hair again after their first procedure , that they want a second procedure..

Yes, I was a little nervous. That's human nature though, very normal. If you sign up with Pawlinga Medical, then you me, a hair restoration surgeon with 21 plus years experience and a  hair transplant patient myself. I will take good care of you.

I have been performing female hair transplants as long as I have been doing hair itself, 21 plus years. The conditions I see are female hereditary hair loss( most common), traction alopecia and facelifts that have left a noticeable scar on the front-hairline. Those are the most common surgical conditions I have seen over the years.

Yes, African American hair has such beautiful curl to it that the results are usually spectacular!

Yes! Whether you are transitioning from male to female or female to male, we provide gender-affirming care for all. We are fully inclusive at Pawlinga Medical and we respect everyone! We are a safe space.

The answer is whenever you are ready! I have had patients think about doing the surgery for years before signing up with us. I have seen people schedule the procedure fairly quickly. It seems from October through March is the busiest time for surgeries. It just depends on you and your schedule.
