Christopher M. Pawlinga, MD is a Hair Restoration Surgeon with 21 years of experience performing FUE and FUT Hair Transplant procedures. Located in Latham, Pawlinga Medical serves patients throughout Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady and the Capital Region.
FUE ( Follicular Unit Extraction) is a hair transplant technique in which individualized follicular units are carefully removed from the donor area and transplanted into areas of hair loss. Dr. Pawlinga uses FUE to create a personalized treatment plan designed around each patient's hair loss pattern, donor hair availabilty and expectations.
FUT ( Follicular Unit Transplantation) is a hair transplant technique in which a thin hair-bearing scalp is removed from the donor area. Individual follicular units are then carefully separated and transplanted into the areas of hair loss. FUT can be an excellent option for patients who require a larger number of grafts while preserving the surrounding donor hair for future procedures.
Corrective hair transplantation can improve or redesign a hairline from a previous procedure that no longer looks natural or meets a patient's expectations. Dr. Pawlinga uses either FUE or FUT techniques to repair prior procedures, soften unnatural " pluggy" results, improve density and create a more natural looking hairline. Each corrective procedure is individually planned based on the existing transplant, available donor hair and your expectations.
Beard transplantation uses your donor hair to restore or enhance facial hair in areas that are thin, patchy or absent. Individual follicular units are carefully transplanted to create a natural looking beard, mustache, goatee or sideburns. Dr. Pawlinga designs each procedure around the patient's facial features, existing hair growth, donor hair availability and desired appearance.
Eyebrow transplantation uses your own donor hair to restore thinning, sparse or absent eyebrows. Individual follicular units are carefully transplanted to recreate the natural shape, direction and density of eyebrow hair. Dr. Pawlinga develops each procedure around the patienr's facial features, existing eyebrow hair, donor hair availability and desired appearance.
Non-surgical hair restoration treatments can help slow hair loss, maintain and stabilize existing hair and improve hair growth in some patients. Treatment options may include Finasteride, Dutasteride, Minoxidil, Low Level Laser Therapy(LLLT), Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) and other therapies. Dr. Pawlinga develops an individualized treatment plan for each patient's type and stage of hair loss, medical history and expectations.
